Beginning in June 1967, a group called “OCS” began promoting concerts rock & roll concerts at Eagles Auditorium. Acts like Country Joe & The Fish, The Grateful Dead, The Doors and Moby Grape along with local Seattle bands were booked at the Eagles Auditorium. In September 1967, Boyd Grafmyre signed a 10 month lease, with a 10-month renewal option, on the Auditorium to promote “… contemporary, now and hip entertainment to the Eagles on weekends. This will include rock, jazz, light shows, theater, film, and so on.” His first shows were the Grateful Dead, Magic Fern and Fat Jack on the weekend September 8 & 9, 1967.He promoted concerts until the final concerts presenting Leon Russell and John Sebastian, June 26 & 27, 1970.
The Eagles Auditorium replaced rock concerts with mainly boxing & wrestling matches until February 1971, when the Jimi Hendrix Memorial Foundation sponsored a weekend of concerts called the “Boogie Weekend” with the first two nights at Eagles AudiTtorium. This was followed by a set of Buddy Miles concerts March 19 & 20, 1971.
This archive is focusing on the “glory years” of rock & roll concerts at the Eagles Auditorium from 1967-1970. Our goal is to archive every rock & roll concert held at Eagles Auditorium during that period.
In addition, we will include in the archive the John Chambless celebration of rock & roll concerts at the Eagles Auditorium with his KOL-FM radio show “Great Nights At Eagles.” This radio show ran from October 24, 1971 until March 19, 1972 on Sunday nights at 7:00 pm on KOL-FM (94.1). We have attempted to recreate the schedule of broadcasts with the performance that was broadcast on that particular Sunday night.
